President Dr. Samia Urges Tanzanians to Turn Out in Large Numbers for CHAN 2024 Opener

President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, has called on Tanzanians to show up in large numbers to support the national football team, Taifa Stars, in the opening match of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024). Tanzania will kick off the tournament with a highly anticipated match against Burkina Faso.

Speaking on August 1, 2025, during the inauguration of the East African Commercial and Logistics Centre (EACLC) in Ubungo, Dar es Salaam, President Samia expressed strong confidence in the Taifa Stars squad. “We have great faith in our players. If the trophy stays at home, they should know a reward awaits from me,” President Samia affirmed.
